To increase visibility for the pedestrians and bicyclists on Alii Drive in Kona, the Department of Public Works, Traffic Division, is increasing the size of the shoulder marking on both sides of the street from 4 inches to 8 inches.
The striping began Thursday at the Keauhou Shopping Center entrance and moving in the northern direction.
Striping the shoulders will be done in four to five blocks at a time. Work will be done on weekdays, excluding holidays; between 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
The project is scheduled for completion on March 28 and may be extended.
